Sand bags were originally designed as temporary flood defences and for military applications. They were originally available only in hessian material but are now manufactured in different grades of both hessian and woven polypropylene with the end use determining the most suitable material.
Typical Uses
Normal Duty Woven Polypropylene: Ideal for use as temporary flood defences, stabilising road signs and weighing down agricultural netting.
Normal Duty Hessian & Normal Duty Rotproofed Hessian: Ideal for extended temporary use, they are sometimes used with a weak cement mix to stabilise waterways, banks etc. The rotproofed version is a green colour and provides an longer life before degrading.
Filled Heavy Duty Polypropylene: These bags are UV stabilised to offer a long life. Supplied on a pallet, the bags will be off loaded on the pallet outside the delivery address.
